MILAN, Jun 24, 2007/ FW/ --- This might be reaching, but one gets a feeling that Alexander McQueen frequents ‘Second Life’, the very popular role playing game site that has over 20 million members.

For Spring / Summer 2007, Alexander McQueen brought his audience poolside, a very popular addition to cyber properties at Second Life. Then he sent models in retro-futuristic looks, i.e., 1950s hair like The Fonz in ‘Happy Days,’ but wearing clothes made from high tech fabric.

Surprisingly, (though for Second Life denizens it is not a surprise), the silhouette is voluminous. Wide legged pants, loose fitting shorts, shirts, jackets and suits dominated the collection. For fans of Second Life, they will recognize that ‘avatars’ there usually wear voluminous clothes, including the men! That really goes against the grain of the current slim forms being sold in stores.

And of course, the message is color – from sunshine yellow, to fire engine red to sky blue, Alexander McQueen envision a bright future! Couple that with his message of Love and Peace, without the usual hippie connotation, the British-born designer truly has touched the future with this collection without leaving our reality.

Or, for Second Life denizens, and for all old hands on the internet since the IRC (Internet Relay Chat) fame, the progenitor of the modern chat rooms, Second Life had gone IRL – In Real Life.

Thanks to Alexander McQueen, those of us who had been living on the web for a long time are being pulled back to reality.
