MILAN, Jan 14, 2008 / FR / --- The collection is not about traveling, but the ‘mindset’ of traveling as it touched the gypsy in all of us who at one time or another gets footloose and has wanderlust.
Hence the collection has that comfy, well-worn look that becomes an instant favorite because you feel at home with it immediately. Boiled wool coats have an unstructured effect, drawing from an old-fashioned wardrobe, the silhouette ranging from slim to oversized.
It’s a retro-modern look, sometimes even ‘raw’ with the unfinished hems on shirts. By utilizing double-faced or detachable materials that are hand-finished with elaborate stitches, Carlo Pignatelli gave patchwork a new twist.
Sheepskin embellished by raw-cut inlays worked as patchwork is also used for waistcoats, jackets and original caps. Micro flowers, almost unnoticeable provide an unexpected detail. Chevrons, checks and Prince of Wales bring a contemporary element in the collection.
It’s intellectual dressing, for lack of a better work. It is as if a man has borrowed that famous line from a woman when given a compliment about her dress and she says, ‘Oh, this old thing that I just threw on’ giving the impression that she did not really care about dressing up.
