MILAN, Jan 14, 2008 / FR/ --- For his debut at Gianfranco Ferré, Lars Nilsson opted for a presentation, but it is a presentation that no one had seen before. Live models and mannequins presented the looks in different “rooms” created like vignettes in a play that sparked images of a lifestyle. Designed by Michael Howells, one of the world’s leading production and set designers (with an impressive list of projects to his credit in the realms of theater, cinema and fashion), the rooms refer not so much to a home as to a “world” the Gianfranco Ferré man feels comfortable about living in. “Luxury is discreet,” sums up Lars Nilsson message for the season. Skillfully constructed lean jackets are paired with slouchy pants; with accessories such as shoes being part of the total look, the term ‘luxe’ is raised to further heights as Gianfranco Ferré also becomes part of a man’s lifestyle. Pure cashmeres and wools, special blends of cashmere, alpaca and mohair, glossy deerskin and nubuck leathers, buttery calfskin and ultrasoft alligator – the list goes on and on as Lars Nilsson carefully selected the fabrics to make up the collection. Staying true to his message of ‘discreteness’, the color palette is neutral using different shades of gray accented with black and white. Prince of Wales checks in different proportions interspersed with the somber main color palette provided the contemporary element. |
