PARIS, Jan 31, 2007/ FW/ --- Better known for its haute couture and womenswear lines, the House of Givenchy took a bold step in December 2003 as it re-launched Givenchy Homme as a high-profile label and appointed high-profile British menswear designer Ozwald Boateng as Creative Director.

It marked a new era at Givenchy since the retirement of its founder Hubert di Givenchy, who was considered one of fashion visionaries during his time and one of the original couturiers to the stars.

As Ozwald Boateng took the helm, he infused his high energy and dynamism to the brand, while respecting the heritage of Hubert di Givenchy of emphasizing the silhouette rather than embellishments in his designs.

Though their approaches in designing are different, Ozwald Boateng and Hubert di Givenchy share an important aspect – both makes clothes appear so simple and very easy to adapt giving them accessibility and easy to wear qualities.

And therein lies the real beauty of the design. In their apparent simplicity, the clothes accentuate the wearer; hence, the collection becomes highly covetable and urgently desirable.

In January 2007, Givenchy announced that Ozwald Boateng had taken a consulting position and stepped down from being the Creative Director of Givenchy Homme.
